Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about smart home devices and ecosystems.

Alexa vs Google Assistant vs Siri — which is best?

Alexa has the widest smart home device support and best routines. Google Assistant is better at search and answers questions more accurately. Siri has the best privacy and deepest Apple ecosystem integration. For most people, Alexa or Google Assistant is the practical choice for smart home control.

What is Matter and why does it matter?

Matter is a universal smart home standard backed by Apple, Google, Amazon, and Samsung. Devices that support Matter work across all ecosystems — you can control a Matter device with Alexa, Google Home, and Apple Home simultaneously without needing bridges or hubs.

Do I need a smart home hub?

Not always — many Wi-Fi devices connect directly to your router. But Zigbee and Thread devices need a hub (or a speaker/display with built-in hub). Hubs also improve reliability with local control (works when internet is down) and faster response times.

How much suction do I need in a robot vacuum?

For hard floors, 2,000–3,000 Pa is fine. For carpets, look for 5,000+ Pa. But suction numbers alone don't tell the whole story — brushroll design, airflow, and navigation matter more than raw Pa. Don't chase the highest number blindly.

Can smart speakers spy on me?

Smart speakers only listen for the wake word — they don't continuously record everything. However, voice clips may be sent to the cloud for processing and can be stored (often anonymized). You can review and delete your voice history in the app settings. For maximum privacy, use the physical mute button when not in use.
